We’ll kick off the second episode of Experiments with Truth and Illusion series Monday at 7 - 8:15 PM PST on Zoom with a twist; we’ll have Katie join us as interviewer and co-host.
Who is Katie?
Not afraid to ask a question and to then question it's answer, Katie enjoys nothing more than a good gab with those brave enough to march to their own drummer. In school, she gravitated toward Creative Writing and Philosophy, while her career has centered around education and workplace culture. Each of these pursuits has afforded Katie opportunities to absorb and to foster great storytelling and community. Katie's most comfortable when curious, so her home is a treasury of so called "outsider art" and discarded items of long dead strangers - each item evoking an untold story. She mines life for gems - people, places, things, ideas - that most might easily overlook or dismiss due to the very imperfections that she prizes.
New Format
Katie will lead the interview and facilitate the conversation. She’ll be teasing out what’s important and probing more deeply into the stories and insights that we’ll focus on in this series. Before the talk we will do a pre-recording which will be released as a podcast that might end up being more philosophically oriented (everything is subject to change) and more of a long-form deep dive going wherever the light takes us. With that being said, nothing is set in stone.
Title: The Sound of Dissatisfaction
We’ll talk about DISSATISFACTION’S two-fold nature and our relationship with dissatisfaction as we progress through our spiritual path.
The Loop (ordinary dissatisfaction)
Building Our Glass House
Empty Things, Empty People
Transcendent Dissatisfaction
Empty Space / Awareness
Meditation
Loving Oneself Directly
I’ll talk about the process of dissatisfaction, share a couple of personal stories of working with dissatisfaction, and we’ll introduce some practices to become intimately aware of dissatisfaction in your daily life situations with the goal of seeing clearly our style of imprisonment.
See you tonight (September 14th, 7PM)!
